Michael Wilmot is the president and chief executive officer of Michigan Leadership Institute. His thirty year career in public education includes serving as a teacher, high school principal, executive director of business services and superintendent. Dr. Wilmot was the superintendent of Garden City Public Schools from 1983 through 2001. He has also served as chairman of a North Central Association visiting accreditation team, president of the Metropolitan Detroit Bureau of School Studies, and Chairman of the Education Commission of the Michigan PTA Board of Managers. In addition, Dr. Wilmot was president of the Michigan Education Commission as well as president of the Metropolitan Association for Improved School Legislation (MAISL). In addition to his educational career, Dr. Wilmot has served on the executive boards of hospital and health organizations, and the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Wilmot received a Doctor of Education degree, an Education Specialist degree, Master of Education degree and Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from Wayne State University.

Dr. Craig Misner has enjoyed a distinguished 39-year career in the field of education. He retired as Superintendent of the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency in 2008. Prior to leading that organization for almost eight years, he served as Superintendent of the Hopkins Public Schools for four years and Superintendent of the Parchment School District for ten years. Dr. Misner prepared for those leadership roles by serving as a teacher and building level administrator for 17 years in the Kalamazoo School District. In addition, he has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University in the College of Education since 1987. Craig has served as chairman for the education subcommittee of the Community Response to the Kalamazoo Promise, as well as chairman for both the Kalamazoo County Superintendents' Council and the Kalamazoo Nature Center Board of Directors. Craig has also been active in MASA, MAISA and AASA. Dr. Misner received an Ed.D. and M.A. in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education, all from Western Michigan University.

Throughout her thirty-six year career in education, Dr. Kathleen Booher has served as a middle and high school classroom teacher, staff developer, assistant superintendent and superintendent. She has also worked as a university professor in teacher education and as a private consultant in writing and speaking skills for several corporations. Dr. Booher has been active in professional service roles including the Michigan Association of School Administrators and the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. She was a contributing leader in both the Oakland County and Wayne County Superintendent Associations. In addition, she was a founding board member of the Tri-County Alliance for Public Education, the organization representing the school superintendents of southeast Michigan, which she later served as its first executive director. Throughout her tenure as superintendent, Dr. Booher worked closely with boards of education to lead districts through major changes necessitated by enrollment factors, from declining student numbers to rapid growth. She developed popular parent choice programs in her districts and was an early leader in enhancing instructional efforts through technology. She has supervised both new construction and building renovations with projects always completed under budget. Dr. Booher earned a Doctor of Education degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey and Master of Arts in Education and Bachelor of Science degrees from Western Michigan University.

Dr. James Geisler began his educational career in the Chicago area, teaching and later serving as an assistant high school principal. He moved to Michigan in 1974 upon being named Principal of North Muskegon High School. In 1983, he became Assistant Superintendent of the Royal Oak Schools. He was named Superintendent of the Walled Lake Consolidated Schools in 1988, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2006. Dr. Geisler was named Michigan Superintendent of the Year in 1991. Dr. Geisler has been active in many professional and community endeavors. He served as Chair of the Metropolitan Bureau of School Studies, the Oakland County Superintendents' Association, the Galileo Teacher Leadership Program, and the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges Michigan State Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital Board of Directors. He received his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Chicago in 1982. Prior to that, he earned his M.Ed. from Loyola University in Chicago and his B.A. in Philosophy from St. Mary of the Lake (now Niles College of Loyola University.)

Dr. Timothy Edwards' distinguished 38-year career in public education includes teaching at the elementary level, administration of both elementary and middle school buildings, and eighteen years as a superintendent in the Deckerville Community Schools, the Imlay City Community Schools, and the Sanilac Intermediate School District. Dr. Edwards has been an assessor for the Michigan Assessment Center, an NCA team member and Chair of two NCA teams. He has also taught graduate level courses for Saginaw Valley State University. Throughout his career Dr. Edwards has held regional and state offices in MASA, MEMSPA and MASSP. He has served as an officer and/or board member of numerous community organizations. He earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Oakland University in 2003. His doctoral dissertation focused on a board of educations capacity to select a superintendent of schools.

John Hoeffler has served the public schools of Michigan and Ohio for over 39 years. In 2007, John retired from the Birmingham ( Michigan )Public Schools after serving for 17 years as superintendent. Prior to that, he served as superintendent of the Worthington (Ohio) schools for 5 years. During the 2008-09 school year, John served as interim superintendent for the Northport Public Schools in northern Michigan. Over his career, John has also served as English teacher, English department head, assistant high school principal, and high school principal. In Birmingham, John successfully used a strategic planning process to keep the district focused on continual improvement, improving student achievement while dealing with difficult budgeting issues and fully renovating all thirteen schools in the district, including a state-of-the-art educational technology plan for all students. A three-time graduate from Ohio State University, he holds a B. Sc. in English Education, a M.A. in English Literature, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership. John is proud to bring his experiences as an educational leader to the Michigan Leadership Institute.
